Sean “Diddy” Combswill celebrate Christmas at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he is awaiting trial next May after pleading not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday, inmates and those close to Combs talk about what he’s been up behind bars and the meals he’ll be consuming over the holidays.
Combs regularly plays card games with other inmates and shoots hoops during recreational hours, and family members visit on weekdays. “He’s well-liked inside prison,” says a former inmate. “People are getting along with him."

Lunch will be served around 11 a.m. and will include baked Cornish hen or BBQ tofu. The side dishes on offer will include macaroni and cheese, spinach, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls or a holiday dessert and a beverage.
Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center will offer two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on whole wheat bread, potato chips, fruit and a beverage for Christmas dinner, which will be served after 4 p.m. The jail offeredthe same evening meal this year on Thanksgiving.
But on Christmas Eve on Dec. 24, Diddy will be served a different dinnertime meal. It consists of turkey roast or Navy beans, baked sweet potato, mixed vegetables and whole wheat bread with margarine and a beverage.

At the time of the third ruling, U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York Arun Subramanian cited several reasons in the decision, noting that Combs is a danger to the community as well as the seriousness of the violent crimes he has been charged with. The judge said that “no conditions” would mitigate the risk of witness tampering or obstruction in his case.
A month later, on Dec. 13, Combsdropped his appeal of a request for bail.
Combs’s indictment centers around alleged “freak offs,” which prosecutors claim were elaborate sex performances involving male sex workers and women who were forced or coerced into participating. It accuses Combs of being the ringleader of a “criminal enterprise” that allowed him to sexually, physically, emotionally and verbally abuse his victims for years.

Now resigned to living behind bars until his day in court arrives next year, Combs scored a legal win when ajudge granted him access to a laptopcomputer pre-loaded with discovery documents that will allow him to prepare for trial.
Despite Combs’ optimistic outlook, on top of the criminal charges he now also faces more than 30 civil sexual assault lawsuits filed since last year.
“As to the Intercontinental Hotel video, Combs has not carried his burden to show that the government leaked it to CNN,”Subramanian wrotein his decision. “Combs argues that ‘the most likely source of the leak is the government’ but he doesn’t point to any sound basis for this conclusion.”
The Bad Boy mogul will return to court on March 17. His federal trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
