In my melodic fostering , Ghostface Killah is an rarity . Back in 2006 , I was a fourth-year in high school and my iPod was almost exclusively fill up with classic rock tracks ( thanks parent ) and passion Against The Machine ( thanks teenaged angst ) . There ’s no reasonableness that Ghostface Killah ’s utterly amazing Fishscale should have been anywhere near my radiolocation .
But we were inclose by a friend of a friend , and it ’s been love ever since . To this day , I can still perfectly declaim “ The Champ ” from that platter because I much burned the lyrics into my brain by interminable repeating . In fact , let ’s give it another listen .
Eight days later , I still look patiently for every new Ghostface Killah LP . So , of form , this workweek I ’ve been exclusively teem 36 Seasons viaNPR First Listen — and it is soooo honorable . Every single second of this record album ’s 40 minutes is just fun . With a mixture of rap , soul , hip - hop , R&B , and perhaps even pernicious doo - ginzo influences scatter about .

With that staggering list of musical genre jammed into one record album , 36 Seasons parachute from a bite undoer with “ The Battlefield , ” reminiscent of Fishscale at its absolute best , and transitions to sluggish number like “ It ’s a fragile note Between Love and Hate . ”
It ’s a shame that so many music pubs have pushed out their “ Best of 2014 ” list because 36 season could ’ve easily been a challenger , possibly even The Champ . [ NPR ]
