A bipartisan coalition in the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced new antitrust legislation aimed at prying subject Big Tech ’s demise clutches on our lives . Indeed , more and more masses feelthat giving a modest cartel of mega - corporations supreme power over our data , mercantilism , and politics is a pretty horrendous fucking theme . Who would ’ve thought ?
Thus , with the tagline “ A Stronger Online Economy : Opportunity , Innovation , Choice , ” the newly propose law look to implement strong changes that would apparently increase genuine grocery competitor and stop the progressively hard major power of Silicon Valley ’s large fish .

In the case of one poster , the Ending Platform Monopolies Act , the legislation would actually look for to give way up function of large companies that play sealed limen for size and influence ( * cough , Amazon * ) . It ’s anybody ’s guess how this will all shake out . These posting will need to pass away both the House ( currently controlled by the Democrats ) and then reset the Senate , where they will break away into more GOP vote and thus may see some resistance ( less for the lawmaking ’s anti - tech stance than its pro - regulation one ) . It ’s also not tout ensemble clear whether these constabulary go through the table mustard when it comes to making meaningful change . Just a cursory glimpse at the bill text brings some questions to mind in terms of how they would actually be enacted and enforced .
On the whole , however , this seems like a footstep in the correct direction and it ’s nice to see our legislators working together for a change alternatively of , I do n’t know , calling for the other party ’s leadersto be beheadedfor perfidy or whatever we all got used to during the Trump years .
