Two Sun Myung Moon and five spacecraft : it ’s getting pretty crowded up there . So how do all those Martian satellite manage to keep missing each other ?
NASAput together this mapof what all is range around up there , and it has us wonder just how they all get by to keep missing each other . fundamentally , there are two things responsible for keeping all those moons and space vehicle intact .
The first is that the orbits that the different space vehicle are traveling in are not all the same . Maven , for illustration , circle up much higher than the other ballistic capsule orbiting Mars . That still , however , impart a number of craft in the same orbit — not to advert Phobos and Deimos , Mars ’ two tiny , sort of lumpy Moon , both of which have ambit that cross route with the ballistic capsule .

Which is why a 2d scenario is also necessary , what NASA calls“a collision - dodging manoeuvre . ” scientist for each mission keep close caterpillar tread of the anticipated orbits not just for their own commission , but also for the others . And , when they get a little too close for quilt , they can make a design with the other mission squad to preemptively stop any space crashes .
