Jamie Foxxis reminiscing on his friendship with late actorKeith Jefferson.
TheThey Cloned Tyroneactor, 55, said on Instagram he had been going down memory lane of the times he shared with his late friend afternews of Jefferson’s deathon Thursday.
“Everything hurts right now," wrote Foxx. “Having a hard time looking through these pictures reliving the memories of us having a great time going to miss you man gonna miss you.”
“[Ever] since we met back in college, you have been in incredible soul God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND RIP Keith 💔💔💔💔,” he concluded the post.
Earlier on Thursday, Foxx shared the news of Jefferson’s death months after Jeffersonannouncedhe had been diagnosed with cancer. Foxx said “this one hurts.”
“Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul,” Foxx wrote.
Jefferson’s rep Nicole St. John confirmed the news to PEOPLE on Thursday, saying, “I am deeply saddened on a personal level. He was a kind person and a tremendous talent. It is a profound loss to the artistic community.”
“He had several projects in the pipeline and was in the midst of a project that captured his unique and resonant voice,” added St. John. “He had been looking forward to returning in the new year. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and close friends.”
Jefferson was an actor, producer, voiceover artist and acting coach, according to hispersonal website. After meeting Foxx in college, he went on to work with the star several times during the span of his career, including on the sitcomThe Jamie Foxx Show,Django Unchained,Day Shiftand inthe new movieThe Burial.
