In the latest episode of her podcast,Mina AF,Starsiak Hawk reflects on the challenges that came with finding fame on the long-running home renovation series.
And while she admits that being in the spotlight has felt like a “pressure cooker” for her family, that hasn’t deterred her from pursuing future television opportunities.
Her next on-camera project involves filming the renovation of her family’s new lake house for a two-episode spinoff ofGood Bones.

The property, about 35 minutes from her Indianapolis home, is located in a “great community,” Starsiak Hawk says.
“It’s this place that I can see in my mind that’s going to be for my family, but also for my extended family to make these new, amazing memories,” she explains. “I have so many friends that I hear tell great stories about growing up at their grandparents’ lake house and running around in the woods and building forts and just being kids, and I want that for my kids.”
She and husband Steve Hawk, who have two children — Jack, 5, and Charlie, 3 — are renovating the home together.
“We’re doing it in two phases, because I don’t have enough money to do the whole thing at once,” Mina says. “Despite what a lot of people think, I’m not rich.”
For the first phase, they’re focused on the main floor of the house, which encompasses the living room, dining room, kitchen, main bedroom and bathroom, two additional bedrooms and another bathroom for the kids. Phase two will include the outdoors and basement, which will serve as a second living space for extended family.

“It’s been really fun so far because Steve’s involved a lot,” she says. “The kids are there a lot.”
MJ Coyle and Austin Aynes, from the team seen onGood Bones, will be there for demo, she notes.
“It’s the best place to be for what I do,” she said.
