Patrick Mahomesshared what was running through his head at the end of the2024 Super Bowl.

DuringTuesday’s episodeofGood Morning America, the 28-year-old quarterback explained why he fell to the ground after throwing the winning touchdown toMecole Hardman.

Mahomes explained toGMAco-hostWilliam Reevethat the team “prepares for those moments.”

“The only time I feel like I was a little nervous was maybe that fourth down play,” revealed Mahomes. “I knew I’d have to go up there and get it.”

As for how he felt after the play, Mahomes shared, “It was just all emotion; all emotion, man.”

“I was running, and I didn’t know where to go, and I had to lay down somewhere, so I did a tumble on the ground,” said the quarterback. “It’s a moment that I’ll never forget.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion added that he’s striving to land more championship titles.

“I mean obviously we’ve had a great start and a great run, and we’ve done a lot of great things, but we’ve got a long ways to go,” Mahomes said. “And so I think if I have the mindset to continue to get better every single day I’m playing.”

He’s also the third player ever to win three or more Super Bowl MVP trophies — followingTom Brady’s five wins and San Francisco 49ersJoe Montana’s three wins, per ESPN.

After the game, Mahomes and the team discussed the win on stage. He was asked how he kept his cool to score the winning touchdown and called the last drive “a microcosm” of their season.

The quarterback praised his team’s defense for “keeping us in there,” and “of course,Harrison Butker,” who tied the game with a field goal to go to overtime.
