Police in Massachusetts are currently searching for a 40-year-old man suspected of killing a 31-year-old woman before boarding a flight out of the U.S.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police said in apress releaseon Thursday that they have obtained an arrest warrant for Kevin Kangethe, 40, after finding the body of missing Whitman woman, Margaret Mbitu, in a garage at Logan Airport.

At about 6:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday, Massachusetts State Troopers who were assigned to the Logan Airport Barracks found a woman deceased in a car located in the Central Parking garage at the airport. They then identified the woman as Mbitu, who had been reported missing on Monday and was the “subject of a missing person’s investigation,” according to authorities.

Detectives determined that evidence at the scene “indicates” that she had been “the victim of a homicide,” per the press release.

“They observed a large amount of blood inside the vehicle,” the warrant stated, per the outlet.

State Police Detectives said they obtained a warrant charging Kangethe with Mbitu’s murder and are “working with Kenyan authorities to locate” him.

“There is no threat to the public or to Logan Airport travelers,” The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police said. “No further information is being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.”

Mbitu’s cousin George Kamu remembered her toNBC Bostonas a “beautiful” soul. “We have lost a beautiful girl that we all loved — quite a treasure to us. Quite a happy person, in and outside,” Kamu said.
