Tara Davis-Woodhalland her husband,Hunter Woodhall, will compete together once again.

On Feb. 11, it was revealed in anofficial releasethat the Para National Championships will be combined with the Outdoor Championships – a historic first for Team USA and a move that will see the couple at the same meet for the first time since college.

“We have never had the same TEAM USA trials because able body and para have always been separated,” the couple wrote in a caption to anInstagram videothey posted on Feb. 12 reacting to the decision.

“It will not only determine which of our athletes we take with us to worlds, but also will be the first time that fans will get to see Para sport contested at USATF Outdoor Championships,” she continued. “We are so excited to set the cornerstone for what will hopefully be many more combined meets in the future.”

Tara, who won gold in the women’s long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and Hunter, a Paralympic medalist, are set to compete.

The couple, who married in 2022, have caught attention for their athletic prowess and support for one another. After Tara won Olympic gold, Hunter was quick to give her a loving hug from the stands.

“Babe, you’re the Olympic champion!” Hunter, 26, told her in the joyous moment that quickly went viral.

“I haven’t been on social media that much, soI don’t know how viral it’s gone!” Tara, 25, told PEOPLE in August 2024, after the event at the Team USA house in Paris.

“Everyone’s been telling me the whole world’s been seeing it, [but] that’s just Hunter and I,” she said. “He’s my biggest supporter, and I guess the whole world got to see how much he supports me.”

On their joint Instagram account, Taraposted a video of the race, captioning it: “HUNTER WOODHALL IS A PARALYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST. HIS MOMENT AND HE TOOK IT.”

When celebrating the recent news of the joint meet, the couple’s excitement was palpable.

“Now you’ll be able to see both Woodhall’s compete in the same meet,” they wrote in their aforementioned joint Instagram post about the rule change. “Progress over perfection."
