On the latest episode of her andJennie Garth’s podcast90210MG, the 50-year-old actress shared that Perry revealed he was dating the music icon while on set of the hit Fox series, which ran for 10 seasons from 1990 to 2000.
“I will never forget him pulling me into his dressing room and telling me,” she recalled. “I felt so confided in. ‘Oh, my God, he’s telling me about Madonna.’”

Spelling added that Perry, whodied at 52in 2019, also invited her to listen to a message from the “Vogue” singer.
“Remember how we used to have answering machines, you guys? He played me a message from her,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘You’re the coolest person in the whole world. One, cause you’re Luke Perry, and two, because Madonna wants you.’”
However, Garth, 51, revealed that she may not have been privy to her costar’s romance, asking, “Did I know that?”

“Jen, we kept these things from you because [that’s something] you would want to hear,” she jokingly responded.
Madonna and Perry met at American Foundation for AIDS Research,Vanity Fairreported in a1992 cover story. The singer reportedly called the late actor while he was on the set of90210to ask him to fill in forElizabeth Taylor, who had the flu and was supposed to present her an award at the event.
Perry came to present the award after he opened the playLove Lettersthe same night. He was greeted on stage with a kiss from Madonna which sparked romance rumors, according to the outlet.

As for Perry, he married Rachel Sharpe in 1993 and the pair share son Jack, 26, and daughter Sophie, 23. Their relationship ended a decade later.
